EXCLUSIVE Lara Trump Commentary: Minnesota, America Needs You to Send a Message to Democrats

by Lara Trump

Minnesota has the opportunity to send a loud, strong message to the Washington, D.C. political class, more than probably any other state in the union.

Minnesotans are the quintessential “deplorables.” After favoring Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, the state’s two most competitive congressional districts voted decisively for President Donald Trump in 2016.

The message coming from voters in these districts was unmistakable: “don’t take us for granted.” In many ways, these voters were a microcosm of the Trump coalition nationally. After years of poor kitchen table economics for hardworking Minnesota families, voters embraced Donald Trump as the antidote to the fecklessness of America’s leaders in Washington.

Minnesota Democrats still haven’t gotten the message voters sent them two years ago, so it’s time to send it again.

The first 22 months of Donald Trump’s presidency have delivered exactly the sort of economic turnaround that more than 1.3 million Minnesotans voted for in 2016. Jobs are rapidly returning to the state, which posted an astounding 2.2 percent unemployment rate in September, and the workers who are filling those jobs now have more money left in their pockets thanks to the President’s middle class tax cuts.

Those are exactly the type of results that President Trump’s supporters were hoping for, and they’re also the sort of results that voters can expect going forward if they elect candidates who will ensure that the America First agenda keeps guiding the country down the path of prosperity.

I recently had the pleasure of campaigning with a pair of excellent Minnesota Republicans, both of whom are exactly the kind of allies my father-in-law needs in Congress. When they take two DFL-held House seats in an election the media has tried to sell as a “blue wave,” it will show Democrats all across the country that they are sorely mistaken for ignoring the independent voices of Trump supporters everywhere.

In Southern Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District, Jim Hagedorn is running a strong campaign to keep an extremist liberal out of Washington. And in the 8th Congressional District — which includes Duluth, the Arrowhead region, and East Central Minnesota — former Duluth Police Commander Pete Stauber is poised for a resounding victory after the President’s trade policy helped lift the iron industry out of its years-long slump.

With a vote for Jim or Pete, Minnesotans can tell the DFL you’ve had enough of hypocrisy and extremists. You can tell national Democrats you want this historic economic revival to continue. And you can tell Nancy Pelosi she has to offer something more than obstruction if she wants to be Speaker of the House again.

That’s quite a message to send, but it can’t be delivered if you stay at home on Tuesday.

President Trump and the entire country need you to get out to the polls, vote for Pete Stauber and Jim Hagedorn, and hand deliver that message with your vote for Republicans on Election Day.
